Decide to make date with her to see what’s going on.
We go to samurai flicks. First one funny. She falls asleep during second. We leave.
She asks me if I want to go to her place to smoke. I suggest wine at my place.
We drink, talk, finally I kiss her. Smile breaks on her face as I approach her lips. Turns out she’s been waiting for this too.
We can't make love though cause she's having her period. Insists we'll make love on my birthday. She takes birth control pills!
We stay up all night, talking, making non-love. Already flipping over each other. Tells me she wanted to make love to me when I was eating spaghetti but her little brother Stevie might not appreciate it.
Keith comes in, know he hears us laughing. Worried he'll be sad because of sad talk with Lynette on phone in the afternoon. Turns out he’s happy for me. He just screwed Queen Jane Approximately.
We watch it get light in bed, leave at six for breakfast at her place.
We walk down Haight Street to Stanyan. As we go into the park she starts quoting from “Stanyan Street & Other Sorrows.” Kids on bench playing bongos. Hippies asleep by duck pond.
We start kissing under the small bridge. Still kissing as we go by the carousel & up to Hippie Hill.
Kids climbing out of their knapsacks & coming out of their tents in the meadow. Everybody smiling & saying hello. Girl holding pot of water over burning twigs. Drummers on benches at the foot of the hill.
We walk over the hill & cut through the trees & cross the road to the Conservatory of Flowers, a white Victorian glass house. We walk through the gardens & come out on the other side to her place.
Susan giddy & joking when we come in. We all eat breakfast together. Susan leaves for L.A.
